Sexy Aliens and Pen pals: Fave Reads July 17

By August 20, 2017November 16th, 2018Recommended Reads

I had an absolute manic July. Life took over for a while and then I had to lock myself away to finish Awakened By Power, so reading wasn’t a top priority. Still, I managed to find a couple of excellent reads that I forced upon friends as is my duty lol. So read on!

1 – Top June Read

Ruths Bonded by V.C. Lancaster (Sci-fi Romance)

When Ruth finds herself abducted and thrown into a cell with a big scary alien, naturally she’s terrified. At first. But when she’s forced to get along with her furry, tailed cellmate (and her clothes get stolen) things slowly start to change between them. After they escape onto an unknown alien planet, they’re finally free to explore their feelings and each other, but can they survive with only each other to rely on and no way of communicating?
Gron is from a matriarchal society where the males obey their Queens, so when a beautiful but strange female is dropped into his cell, he doesn’t know what to think. Is she a victim like him, or is she being used by his captors to control him? Either way, he knows he must control his instincts or he will end up inescapably Bonded to her. The delicate Queen needs his help to survive, and it is his duty to serve her, but can he do it without losing his heart?

Modern day woman, Ruth, finds herself kidnapped and held captive on a strange ship with an alien. She’s forced to try and communicate with him and he automatically wants to protect her, but they are from two different worlds and language is a barrier. They learn to communicate and end up developing feelings for each other.

This story was so good. I loved it. I liked Ruth and how she dealt with everything in her stride, I liked Gron and the whole culture he was used to regarding Queens and his worry of feeling inadequate. It was so SWEET. It was s great to see their relationship develop despite all they went through. The sex scenes were hot and the explanations tied everything up but still made me desperate for the next one. This was unlike anything I’ve read before. No, scratch that. It’s similar to another sci-fi romance novel I’ve read called Transcendence, but THAT story was absolutely unique in itself. It was number one in May’s Fave Reads. If you’re looking for a unique read with sweet but protective Hero, look no further than this one.

Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata (Contemporary Romance)

Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.
The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.
Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect.
What she didn’t count on was falling in love with the guy.

I was in the mood for a slow burn romance and I read the sample of this and had to read it. I was intrigued how the book opens with letters and emails because you begin to learn how the characters communicate and you start to pick up on things, include their mood and attitude toward each other. Once Ruth and Aaron’s relationship developed, I was desperate for them to get together and I loved how it all happened. Seriously, I absolutely fell in love with how everything went in this book – I had a book hangover for days and I had to go reread quite a few bits lol. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if Aaron was a little more possessive over Ruth. So if you’re in the mood for a slow burn, this one is GREAT!
